With the hustle & bustle of Newport's famed wharves and ocean beach just minutes walk away, you'll be surprised by the quiet calm of our wonderful, residential location. Complimentary off-street parking is a nice luxury and gives you the freedom to take advantage of everything Newport has to offer.

Originally constructed in the late 1880s, the residences are now fully modernized with enlarged rooms and all the amenities - air-conditioning, cable TV, hair dryer, telephone, soda machine, ice machine, Wi-Fi, & more. Make yourself at home by relaxing with an afternoon cup of tea or glass of sherry…browse through a book from our shelves…or play board games with your children. Families are welcome. You can meet other guests and make new friends…or hide away for private moments. Besides being known for the "biggest breakfast in town" (Frommer's), you'll also find a bowl of candy, nuts, or snacks to enjoy.

Come anytime - we're open year round - to enjoy our spacious, comfortable rooms with private baths, lovely gardens, and cozy living room. In the winter, we feature massage in your room, games by the player piano or fireplace, and homemade soup on special Friday nights. In the summer, we set out beach towels and provide discount tickets to several local attractions.

In addition to quiet getaways, the Beech Tree Inn and Cottage is very versatile & meets lots of needs. Our lovely meeting room is perfect for small gatherings. We often host reunions, wedding engagements or anniversaries, breakfast seminars from the Naval War College, business off-sites and meetings of all sorts. Plus we're a perfect spot for extended stays including military TDY or TAD ('cause we're retired military & know how it feels!) We also offer weekly rentals in a fully-furnished apartment for folks enjoying a longer vacation.

And for those who just can't travel without their furry friend, we understand! We're pet friendly and have a special room for you.

Business Travelers

Business folks love to stay at the Beech Tree Inn and Cottage. It feels like home, but has the quiet space needed to focus on business. With wi-fi throughout the house, you can always just relax in your room....or you can spread out on the dining room tables or take advantage of the Business Center. Coffee & tea are available in both locations. The Business Center features a desk and a pay-as-you-go fax machine. We plan on adding a copier soon. Additionally, a conference room for 15-20 adjoins the Business Center and can be rented for meetings.

 

 


Rooms and Rates

We look forward to hosting you!  Enjoy our lovely inn featuring spacious, elegant rooms with private baths and numerous amenities including rooftop decks and lovely garden. Many rooms have fireplaces and Jacuzzi tubs. For your convenience, we offer cable TV, air-conditioning, wi-fi, telephones, ice and soda machines, and a shared kitchen with refrigerator. Walk to town, the parking is on us.

The rooms are quite large whether you chose a suite with a king-sized bed or a queen bedroom with everything you need for sound sleep. They are all clean & comfortable - we even treat our beds with hypoallergenic treatment.

Rates are based on a two-night stay for double occupancy to include a big, full breakfast. 13% tax is not included. We reserve the right to change room rates at any time. A two-night minimum stay is required on weekends and a three-night minimum stay is required for holiday & special event weekends.  Book online or call for rates 1-401-847-9794 or 1-800-748-6565.

  Several rooms can accommodate a cot or child's playpen. There is a $50 charge for each additional person over 12 and covers the accommodation and breakfast.

  The Beech Tree Inn & Cottage is ideally suited for honeymoon couples, small groups, special and family events, extended stays, weddings, reunions, military (TDY/TAD) and business travel - everything!

  Pets are accepted in a specific room with prior arrangements and a $25 fee for extra cleaning.

Meetings & Other Gatherings

The Beech Tree Inn & Cottage is well equipped to host your small event. We provide a location - both inside and outside - for family reunions, wedding events, meetings, birthday parties, conferences, graduation parties, business off-sites, and any other get together you can imagine! With guest rooms available on site, you can also reserve a dedicated meeting space for 15-20 consisting of one room with a large table and one room with two sofas, a desk & a fireplace. We also offer our dining room and living room. Or you may need our outside gardens, porch, or deck. Call us so we can host your special event.
 

Military / Government Temporary Lodging (TDY / TAD)

All military and government folks are welcome - whether you're a student at SWOS (www.swos.navy.mil) for three months or just in town attending a meeting at the Naval War College (www.nwc.navy.mil/
defaultf.htm) for a few days, we can accommodate you at the per diem rate.

Some of us are retired - and some are still serving so we open our home to serve you!

In exchange for the military / government perdiem rate, you can enjoy our large, comfortable rooms and the "biggest breakfast in town." We have so many amenities - free local calls, wi-fi, cable TV, off-street parking, & more. We'll open our home to you to make sure you have everything you need - although none of our brass or rank will work if you happen to forget yours! Give us a call so we can serve you!
